વિશે MoveLab
A reference site for exercises, not a fitness blog.
Why this exists
Search for almost any exercise and you will find a page that says it "works the chest and triceps", shows a borrowed animation, and sells you a supplement. What it will not tell you is which muscle is actually producing the movement, what you can do instead when the gym has one cable station and eleven people queueing for it, or what to do when you have no equipment at all.
MoveLab publishes 365 exercises with the prime mover named, the synergists listed, the joint action described, the common form mistakes written out properly, and substitutes computed from that data rather than guessed. 70 of them need no equipment whatsoever, because for a very large share of people who want to get stronger, that is the actual situation rather than a fallback.
Who runs it
MoveLab is built and maintained by Amit Sharma, a marketer based in Auckland, New Zealand, alongside a family of free data tools published at amit.marketing. I am not a physiotherapist or a strength coach, which is exactly why this site sticks to publishing anatomy and movement information with its sources named, rather than handing out individual programming or rehabilitation advice.
How it is funded
Advertising, through Google AdSense, and links to my own fitness challenge at PeakForm. Nothing here is a paid placement, no exercise appears because someone sponsored it, and no muscle attribution has ever been changed to suit anything except the anatomy.
Corrections
Anatomy corrections are prioritised over everything else on this site. If a prime mover is wrong, tell me and it gets fixed on the next build. The method behind every figure is published at data and method.
The people behind these sites
Follow the build
This site and nine others like it are built and photographed by two people: Amit Sharma — behind the build; Geeta Patel — the poses, demonstrated. New work goes up on Instagram and Facebook before it reaches a page here.
Following changes nothing here — every page stays open, with no account and no wall.
